My favorite thing about being a bartender is my ability to create an enticing sensory experience for guests. Working with them to find a drink that suites their palate and then executing a drink that satisfies their requests is one of the most rewarding feelings out there. Watching their reactions as I place a well-made drink in front of them or hearing a well-earned “wow” as they inspect their cocktails fills me with joy.
What is your favorite drink to make and why?My favorite drink to make is probably a classic whiskey sour with an egg white foam. Where I work, we sink Barolo Chinato into the drink and then use a stencil to spray our restaurant’s logo onto the egg white foam with angostura bitters. Almost every time I execute this drink, every guest at the bar stops what they are doing out of curiosity and says “Wow, that’s a beautiful drink” once the stencil is removed.
What would you do with the $20,000?With $20,000, I would want to go to culinary school. I am extremely interested in elevating my ingredient knowledge and learning different flavor combinations and techniques to create cocktails like no one has seen before. I would also use the money to fund getting my Sommelier and Cicerone certifications to expand my wine and beer knowledge. It is my goal to become the most knowledgeable bartender I can be to provide amazing guest experiences.
