Learn MoreMy favorite thing about being a bartender is providing a good customer experience, especially when helping to cheer someone up in the brief moment we interact. Whether it’s mixing the best mule someone’s ever had, giving someone advice on what drink to get their spouse, providing water cups so patrons can take their medication or even simply directing someone to the bathroom, I am happy to serve the customer.
What is your favorite drink to make and why?My favorite drink to make is grog, which while the name may leave more to be desired is a sweet drink of dark rum, lime juice and brown sugar. This is historically a pirate drink, who were paid largely in rum because it did not spoil on the high seas. The drink was made this way to ensure the sailors were not too drunk and drank their pay in moderation, the vitamin c was also essential. I tell this all to those in my bar line and they would gladly purchase several double or triple shots of grog.
What would you do with the $20,000?If awarded the $20,000 I would put that money towards funding my international humanitarian work promoting the rights of children and violence prevention as well as further my documentary projects educating people on how to detoxify from environmental poisons like mercury, lead, arsenic and radiation. This money, like my bartending skills themselves, would be used to help me help others.
