It would have to be the real human connections that I have made through the years. I’m definitely an amalgam of people on both sides of the bar. Those I’ve served and those I’ve worked with have made me who I am today. Those moments that have happened at the bar, and have yet to happen with friends new and old, the smiles and laughs, you never know what tomorrow will bring to your bar.
What is your favorite drink to make and why?The Manhattan. For me it’s the perfect blend of simplicity, style, class and flavor. It’s drink to have at home watching a sunset eating BBQ, it’s the perfect drink to have in hand while enjoying a formal affair or dinner. With Rye/Bourbon various bitters and different vermouths and amaros, this one simple cocktail can take on so many different levels of richness and sipping delight.
What would you do with the $20,000?Pay off a couple of superfluous bills, invest in a platform to be able to create drinks, share ideas and knowledge with other bartenders. Help out some family and if there is anything left over maybe treat myself to a long weekend away somewhere.
